Anwendung:

Florfenicol ist ein künstlich synthetisiertes Monofluorderivat von Methicillin mit der Summenformel C12H14Cl2FNO4S. Es ist ein weißes oder cremefarbenes kristallines Pulver, geruchlos und äußerst schwer löslich in Wasser und Chloroform, schwer löslich in Essigsäure und löslich in Methanol und Ethanol. Es handelt sich um ein neues antibakterielles Breitbandmedikament aus Chloramphenicol für die Veterinärmedizin, das Ende der 1980er Jahre erfolgreich entwickelt wurde.
