Anwendung:

Lubiprostone ist ein angesehener Chloridkanalaktivator in Magen -Darm -Medikamenten. Es kann den Flüssigkeitsgehalt im Darm erhöhen und damit die Darmmotilität fördern. Sein Wirkungsmechanismus ist es, den CIC -2 Chlorid -Ionenkanal in der apikalen Membran von gastrointestinalen Epithelzellen zu aktivieren, was zu einer Zunahme der Chloridionensekretion führt, die von der Wasserabsorption begleitet ist, wodurch letztendlich die Menge an Flüssigkeit in der Lumen erhöht wird.
Lubiproston wirkt hauptsächlich lokale Effekte im Darm aus und wird selten im gesamten Körper absorbiert. In der klinischen Praxis wird es häufig zur Behandlung chronischer Verstopfung und Reizdarmsyndrom eingesetzt.
